Winnie Portley-Rind is the tritagonist of the 2014 stop-motion fantasy film The Boxtrolls.
She is voiced by Elle Fanning who also portrayed Aurora.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Trying to alert her father upon seeing Boxtrolls rummaging through the trash.
- Feeling remorse for having thrown her father's hat out the window in retaliation for him ignoring her previously, and went to retrieve it and kept Archibald Snatcher from getting his hands on it.
- In spite of being angry for a while after Eggs bit her, she still agreed to help him find the boxtrolls and told him where Archibald Snatcher's lair was.
- She was stunned to find that the missing baby (Eggs) is still alive.
- While she was initially furious that no one was eaten by the boxtrolls, this wasn't because she wanted to see people die but rather because it meant that Archibald Snatcher had lied to the entire town (including her) that they were savage monsters.
- Revealing Eggs' true heritage to him upon realizing he genuinely did believe he was a boxtroll and not human.
- Felt sorrow upon learning about the supposed death of Eggs' biological father who the two believed to have been killed by Archibald Snatcher (though what Archibald Snatcher actually did was worse).
- Explaining to Eggs what a father is.
- Convincing Eggs to disguise himself as a human and to have her accompany him due to his limited knowledge concerning people and how they act and behave.
- When Eggs couldn't prove to Lord Portley-Rind that boxtrolls are innocent and not monsters like how the town had been led to believe, she reassured him that not all humans are cruel and heartless once he started to think so.
- Upon discovering Mr. Trout and Mr. Pickles' true natures, she persuaded them to do the right thing and spare Eggs against their boss' orders, thus leading to the two redeeming themselves/
- Distracting Archibald Snatcher using her father's hat in order to help the boxtrolls destroy the machine.
- Biting Archibald Snatcher after he had captured her for him to release her.
- Telling the true story of the boxtrolls to the townspeople following Snatcher's death.
Trivia[]
- She, Eggs, Norman Babcock, and Kubo are the only Laika heroes to be Pure Good.
- Coincidentally, she and her implied crush Eggs are the two heroes from The Boxtrolls to be pure good.
