Yu Narukami is the main protagonist of the Persona 4: The Animation and its spinoff Persona 4: The Golden Animation anime series based on the video games of the same name.
He is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in Japanese, who also voiced Lucario, and Johnny Yong Bosch in English, who also voiced Jonathan Joestar.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- After noticing the large amount of murders taking place in Inaba during his temporary stay there, he decides to investigate who was behind them in order to prevent more from happening and bring whoever was responsible for killing the victims to justice.
- He assembles and takes up the role of the leader of the Investigation Team, a team dedicated to investigating and trying to solve the murders in Inaba.
- Successfully saves Yukiko, Kanji, Rise and Naoto from being killed by the Shadows.
- Agrees to capture and save Mitsuo Kubo from the Shadows despite him being the prime suspect in the murders.
- He agrees to rescue and protect Nanako when a dying Ryotaro entrusted her safety with Yu and the rest of the Investigation Team after the former had ended up in a car accident trying to rescue her when she was kidnapped.
- He and the rest of the Investigation team save a kidnapped Nanako from Taro Namatame.
- Prevents the rest of the Investigation Team from throwing Namatame into the TV. This action will convince Izanami to give humans another chance.
- After rescuing Nanako, he and the group rushes both her and her kidnapped Taro to the hospital in order for them to be treated for their injuries.
- He plays the role of a big brother figure towards most of his Social Link contacts, especially Kanji and Teddie.
- He helps random strangers out with multiple different tasks.
- He and his team defeated Tohru Adachi, the true culprit behind the murders.
- After Adachi's arrest, he and the rest of the Investigation team meet up and still decided to put an end to the case once and for all.
- The bonds he made with the other characters were what give him the ability to unleash the new Persona, Izanagi-no-Okami, and defeat Izanami.
- He and the rest of the group all agree to remain friends even after solving the mystery of the murders.
Trivia[]
- Yu is currently the only version of a Persona protagonist to be Pure Good.
- His video game counterpart was formerly approved as Pure Good, but it's currently undetermined if he is due to concerns of him being too dependent on the player’s choice, with his negative options such as cheating on his girlfriends in the original Persona 4.
