Zenkichi Hasegawa, codenamed Wolf while in the Metaverse, is one of the main characters and party members in the 2020 action-adventure spin-off video game, Persona 5 Strikers.
He is a police inspector who was tasked to investigate the Change of Heart incidents happening all over Japan. After developing a bond with the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, he awakens to his Persona and decides to join them in ther goal to free humanity from the people abusing EMMA for their own gain.
He is voiced by Shin'ichirō Miki in Japanese and by Tom Taylorson in English.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Promised the Phantom Thieves that he would make sure they won't get arrested.
- Told the Phantom Thieves of Hearts that Alice Hiiragi went to Shujin High, which allowed them to successfully change her heart and return all of the desires she stole, giving free will back to everyone she brainwashed.
- He got invites to a party held by Ango Natsume in order to receive his keyword for EMMA so the Phantom Thieves can use it to enter his Jail and change his heart and return all of the stolen desires.
- He told the Phantom Thieves about Mariko Hyodo, the third Jail Monarch, in hopes that they can change her heart and return the desires she stole.
- He helped the Phantom Thieves escape from the brainwashed locals of Okinawa and got the keyword for the late Shuzo Ubukata's Jail, which allows the Phantom Thieves to free the brainwashed islanders,
- After his boss, Miyako Kaburagi, along with the brainwashed police force locate the Phantom Thieves in a hotel in Kyoto, he saves them by willingly getting arrested and takes their place.
- He willingly goes into Akane's Jail without a Persona in order to free the Phantom Thieves who have been trapped in a cage by Akane's shadow. After he confronts Shadow Akane who calls him out for his own hypocrisy, he realizes that he is being selfish in order to keep his family safe. After realizing this, he swears to bring justice to bring an end to the people who abuse their powers and mistreat others and show no remorse for it, awakening to his Persona, Valjean.
- He decides to join the Phantom Thieves and helps them save his brainwashed daughter.
- He helps take down one of the masterminds, Akira Konoe, and writes the calling card, which is essential in the process to change his heart.
- Helps the Phantom Thieves defeat Kuon Ichinose, who was the one who created EMMA in the first place and is helping it in its plan to enslave and brainwash everyone, and the one who brainwashed Sophia to fight the Phantom Thieves.
- He helps the Phantom Thieves of Hearts defeat EMMA, who tried to enslave and brainwash everyone, as well as using the Jail Monarchs as puppets for its own personal gain.
- He got Jyun Owada, the man who killed Zenkichi's wife and someone who is corrupt and was conspiring with Akira Konoe to brainwash the police using EMMA, arrested thanks to his status as a policeman.
Trivia[]
- Fittingly enough, Zenkichi's Persona, Valjean, is based on Jean Valjean, who is also Pure Good.
